NEW YORK READS & SEES TOGETHER
2009 PROGRAM LAUNCHES TO GREAT RESPONSE

AND BE PART OF THIS UNIQUE NYWA PROGRAM

The New York Reads & Sees program for 2009, featuring "Sammy & Sue Go Green Too," by Suzanne Corso, has completed several very successful sessions at selected public schools and the New York Institute for Special Education. Fifty students who are visually impaired, blind or who have disabilities attended at this location, and with books overlaid in Braille, were able to follow along with the reader using either their fingers or their eyes.

At PS 287 in Brooklyn, the reading was done by a blind senior volunteer. There were 180 students from pre-K to 5th grade. The students were again provided with copies of the book overlaid in Braille and were engaged and amazed by the ability to read by touch. In both instances a resounding message from the students was the joy of receiving their own copies of the Braille overlaid books which is most often cost prohibitive.

And this is where we need your help!

For a donation of $25.00 you can make it possible for NYWA to provide one blind or visually impaired student with his or her very own Braille copy of Sammy & Sue Go Green.
