We welcome your participation in New York Reads Together 2008. This community-wide effort is a way for New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds to share the pleasure of reading and talking about a book, probing theirs hearts and minds as they also demonstrate a sense of community.

The book chosen for 2008, Sammy & Sue Go Green Too! is the  first in the eight book eco-series based on Sammy & Sue , a mother/daughter explorer team that embarks on inspiring adventures of learning about living green, our environment, saving the earth's animals, and of course teaching others how to value our planet more.

We are very excited to be working with the Office of the Mayor of the City of New York, The New York City Department of Education and both the New York and Brooklyn public libraries.

The program will also continue to cultivate its relationship with Vision’s to bring the book into senior centers around the city.

This is the fifth time that New York Women’s Agenda has sponsored “New York Reads Together,” a program to celebrate the experience of living in New York, a grand, multi-cultural, beautiful city. As we enter our third year, we are more excited than ever that the program continues to expand and reach New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds.

We hope you will find New York Reads Together an exciting project, and we look forward to your support. This year, we hope to encourage discussions in classrooms, homes, offices churches, mosques and synagogues -- anywhere that New Yorkers gather to learn and read together.
